My work looks at
the desire we have to manipulate and change things that are already
beautiful. I have illustrated this by taking pure white lilies and
dying them with strong colours. On one level I am distorting the
meaning of these lilies and changing it from a symbol of purity and
innocence to something that is gaudy and unnatural. On another there
is also a relationship between the flowers and the body, how we view
ourselves and feel the need to change and become something which society
views as “better”.
